Local · BYOK · Operator-grade

A local autonomous agent.
Built by one founder.

I'm Mel. I built this because generic AI tools won't run on my hardware and cloud agents won't. PC Brain runs on your machine, talks to whatever LLM you bring (Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini), and asks before any action that touches the world. No proxy in the path; you bring the key, you see the bill.

What it does today

The agent layer, honestly described.

Always there, never noisy

It keeps an eye on the things you've okayed — your projects, your to-dos. When something's worth your attention, it speaks up. When nothing is, it stays quiet. No busywork, no fake 'look how busy I am' updates.

Hundreds of skills, all on a leash

PC Brain can do hundreds of different things across 17 corners of your digital life. Every one is graded by how risky it is, and anything that touches the real world stops and asks you first. It's not 434 finished tricks — it's 434 fenced-in moves it can reach for, only when you say go.

Use all your computers as one

Got more than one machine? Flip it on and PC Brain spreads the work across them over your own private network. Only have one? You'll never even see this — it stays out of the way until you add another.

Talks to your real stuff

Lights, plugs, cameras, climate gear, even your 3D printer. PC Brain already speaks the big names — Home Assistant, Philips Hue, SmartThings, Matter, HomeKit, Ring, Govee, Kasa, Tuya, Alexa, Google Home, LG ThinQ, AC Infinity, Blink. Got something off the beaten path? It can usually reach that too.

Put your idle computer to work

When your machine is just sitting there, PC Brain can rent out its spare power and earn you a little money. It shows you the honest math — what you made, the fees, the electricity, the wear — never just the rosy number. You preview every rental before anything actually happens.

It sounds like you, not a robot

Point it at your writing and it helps without steamrolling your voice — it quotes you back to yourself instead of turning everything into marketing mush. Everything it's done is right there in plain English, ready to read back anytime.

Under the hood

Built different by design.

01

Observe

The agent reads your goals, active tasks, smart home state, finances, and episodic memory on every tick.

02

Decide

A governed reasoning chain — Observe, Prioritize, Hypothesize, Govern, Decide — produces structured JSON actions.

03

Execute

Approved actions run. Files move. Tasks update. Devices respond. Everything is logged to your local database.

What's actually shipped

Verified numbers only.

Everything below is countable on the install you'd receive. Anything we're not sure of lives under Honest limits, not here.

What you can verify

Things you can confirm yourself.

No marketing claims. Things you can confirm on your machine, with the install you have in front of you.

Trace every byte

pcbrain --trace-network logs every outbound HTTP call. Inference goes to the LLM provider whose key you configured. License-key activation hits api.pcbrain.ai once at install. Auto-update background checker polls every 4 hours by default (override or disable in Settings). Telemetry / heartbeat / panic-upload all opt-in, default OFF.

Local memory you own

brain.db is yours. Append-only audit log: id, made_at, decision_type, rationale, outcome_summary, outcome_evidence_json. Query with sqlite3 brain.db or via /api/decisions. 90-day default retention; user-configurable.

BYOK + privacy by construction

You bring the key (Anthropic / OpenAI / Gemini), you see the bill, you can rotate or revoke whenever. Provider switch in Settings, no restart. GDPR + CCPA compliant by construction — PC Brain has no data because it never receives any. License key is the only thing on the company servers.

Honest limits

What it isn't.

Things the limits section says aren't shipped. If you need any of these today, this isn't ready for you yet — say so when you apply.

Windows-first

That's where I built it. macOS / Linux on the path; not shipped. If your fleet is Linux NUCs, Pis, or macOS, you cannot run this today — apply anyway and I'll add you to the cross-platform beta when it ships (target Q3 2026).

Closed binary today

Patent prosecution. Reproducible build + SBOM is the verifiability path right now; not a substitute for source. Source-access for license holders on the path; full public source after the patent grants. License terms include a source-escrow trigger if the company stops shipping.

Doesn't ship a model

Inference quality is bounded by the LLM you bring. PC Brain doesn't ship a model. Ollama integration is shipped — point PC Brain at a running Ollama daemon for fully local inference. You install Ollama and choose the model.

Single-developer build

One founder shipping under deadline. The roadmap moves at one person's velocity, not a team's — features land when they're ready, not when they're announced. Smart-home depth today: MQTT directly (Bambu wired in as the first concrete adapter), plus REST adapters for anything that exposes an HTTP endpoint. Z-Wave is on the roadmap, not shipped.

Early access

Apply.

Invite-only while I tune it on real workloads. Apply if anything above sounds like you. I review applications personally; you'll hear from me at melo@pcbrain.ai if I think it's a fit. If you need something the limits section says isn't shipped, say so — I'd rather know than waste your time.
